The Kathryn Hurley Dance Academy was founded in 2006 offering high quality training in Ballet, Tap and Modern dance.
Nursery classes exploring music and movement, are offered to children from the age of 3 years, followed by syllabus classes leading to graded examinations for 5year olds and upwards.
The Academy follows the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) Syllabi and children are encouraged to take examinations. Examinations are not compulsory but offer a measure of progress and reward the children for their hard work and dedication.
The annual Academy show gives all pupils the opportunity to perform in costume, on stage in a professional theatre, whilst building confidence. There is also the opportunity to perform and compete at a number of competitions around the country. The annual summer school brings West End performers to Iron Acton to share their talents and inspire the students.
The Academy also supports community events with performances at fêtes throughout the year, with an annual highlight being 'Proms in the Meadows' and the Actonians Pantomime. Our on-site shop is open once a month during term time. We supply all the required Academy Uniform. Any additional items can be requested on special order.
In January 2016, Kathryn became the Principal of The Ruth Osborne School of Dancing in Wotton -under -Edge and is excited to develop the schools and offer students a variety of opportunities.
In our tenth anniversary year, I am extremely proud that the Academy has been selected as a FINALIST in Dance School of the Year 2016.
